The niche of an animal is its job in the place it lives in. The niche of the wolf is to make sure that there aren't too many of a certain animal. The wolf does this by eating the animals.
Food
Wolves eat a lot of different things, it all depends on where the wolf lives. Most wolves eat large animals that have hooves. This includes elk, deer, moose, and caribou. They will also eat smaller animals like beavers, rabbits, and fish. Where there isn't a lot of food around, wolves will eat insects, berries, and sometimes even leftovers from another animal. Wolves are predators, this means that they hunt and kill other animals for food. Wolves usually hunt in groups called packs. They usually go after the weaker animals in a group. This helps the other group because with the weaker animals dead, the group is allowed to move faster. Below are some pictures of things wolves eat.
