What do Wolves Look Like?
Wolves are large animals that have four long legs, fur of many colors, and bushy tails. Their large, narrow eyes can be almost any color, but all start out with blue eyes.
Gray wolves can be any color from pure black to pure white to reddish-brown, and all of the colors in between. They have a big and long muzzle. Their ears are like rounded triangles and can twist around and are filled with fur. Wolves have a broad face due to the thick fur around their neck.
Wolves have two layers of fur. The top layer is the colored fur; it helps protect the wolf from water, snow, and dirt. The bottom layer is soft and keeps the wolf warm. During the summer, wolves get rid of their bottom layer to keep them cool, this is called molting.
